A celebration of rising stars and cinematic promise, this year’s Blood Red Carpet, presented by Cupra, casts a spotlight on some of the most exciting talents making waves in genre cinema. At the heart of this edition stands, among other names, our Ivana Baquero, the Spanish actress who first captivated the world in Pan’s Labyrinth, and who continues to prove her versatility and range in bold, compelling roles.

Set to grace the blood-red walkway on Friday, October 17, at 6:45 p.m., Baquero joins a select group of emerging talent outside the iconic Hotel Meliá in Sitges, during the SITGES – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. The event, now in its 11th edition, serves as a platform for performers who are redefining the genre both in Spain and abroad.
Baquero, once the wide-eyed heroine in Guillermo del Toro’s dark fairytale, has grown into one of the most intriguing figures in international cinema. From her haunting role in Sister of Mine to her recent performance in the gripping 2025 thriller A Widow’s Game, she continues to choose roles that challenge conventions and push emotional boundaries. Her ability to seamlessly navigate between fantasy, psychological drama, and crime thrillers has cemented her status as a multifaceted actress with global appeal.
This year's Blood Red Carpet also features fellow talents Almudena Amor, Marina Comas, José Pastor, Eric Masip, and Tamar Novas — a lineup representing the vibrant future of Spanish-language cinema. But for many, it’s Baquero’s enduring presence and evolving career that offer a powerful narrative of artistic growth, resilience, and international ambition.
The program extends beyond the red carpet with a special industry panel, "Blood Red Carpet Goes to Hollywood," held on October 16 at 4:15 p.m. in the Garbí 2 Room of the Meliá Sitges Hotel. The session will explore the challenges actors face when crossing into international markets, moderated by casting director Luci Lennox and featuring top agents from UTA, CAA, and Management 360.
As Sitges continues its mission to elevate young voices in genre filmmaking, Ivana Baquero stands out as a symbol of the festival’s vision: fearless, dynamic, and ready to take on the world. Do not forget to tune in on STARZ this december to see her as Messia in the new Spartacus spin-off.
