"Spartacus: House of Ashur" Canceled by Starz After One Season

Deadline recently revealed that Starz has canceled Spartacus: House of Ashur after just one season. The series, a sequel to the original Spartacus (2010), marked Baquero’s arrival to the sword-and-sandal genre, where she starred as Messia, alongside actors Nick E. Tarabay and Tenika Davis.

Lionsgate Television, the show’s producer, is now shopping it to other platforms. Despite its diverse cast, featuring strong female leads like Davis’ gladiatrix Achillia and LGBTQIA+ storylines, the series struggled to match the original’s viewership. Starz, now separate from Lionsgate, is prioritizing owned content, such as Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson’s Fightland.
