The Roman Empire is about to meet a new kind of power. As Starz unveils the first official stills from Spartacus: House of Ashur, one standout is already stealing the spotlight: our Ivana Baquero as Messia.

In this new series by Starz, Baquero takes on the role of Messia, a complex character caught between servitude and rebellion in the shadow of Spartacus’s uprising. In the newly released stills, Baquero appears cloaked in intrigue—equal parts elegance and intensity—standing among key players like Ashur (Nick Tarabay) and Hilara (Jamaica Vaughan), in the volatile world of post-rebellion Rome. As a house slave entangled in the complex dynamics of power and affection, her role promises emotional depth and tension. Her presence hints at a fresh emotional core for the series, which explores the power vacuums and betrayals left in the wake of Spartacus’s death.

With a cast that includes franchise veterans and rising stars, Spartacus: House of Ashur is shaping up to be a bold expansion of the beloved saga. Set roughly six months after the original rebellion, Spartacus: House of Ashur follows Ashur’s rise in a new timeline—yet Spartacus himself remains dead—leaving a legacy that continues to darken every corner of the empire. With Baquero joining a cast featuring Graham McTavish, Tenika Davis, Claudia Black, and others, the series looks to expand its universe with fresh drama and scandal.

Spartacus: House of Ashur is set to premiere this fall on Starz.
