“Pan's Labyrinth”: Ivana Baquero Reminisces About Her Time On Set Seventeen Years Later

At the beginning of July Ivana Baquero has joined El trípode, which is a Spanish radio program on Radio 3 hosted by Rafa Ariza and Esther Valverde.

In the episode of July 6th they talked about El Realismo Mágico, which is a literary and pictorial genre that developed during the 20th century, where it was mostly successful in Latin America. The genre paints a realistic vision of the world while also adds magical elements, which often end up blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.

On this occasion Rafa Ariza and Esther Valverde also talked about Pan's Labyrinth, the 2006 film directed by Guillermo del Toro and which made our Ivana famous when she was still eleven years old.

In the interview Ivana talks about her time on the set:

Talking about creatures – because of course, when you rehearsal you don't see any of those. Then when you enter the set you are faced with everything. And I remember the first time I saw the Faun, which is played by Doug Jones, who is already a tall actor. The Faun's costume had a platform to make him even taller and more imposing and I remember being very impressed with seeing him the first time. Because it is true that there are many special effects, but the magical creatures were real: they were actors dressed up in costumes. And it impressed me a lot.
